Designing a Website That Feels Like Home: Launching Angelica Janik’s Psychologist Website
When Angelica reached out to me, she was stepping into a powerful new chapter of her career as a newly Registered Provincial Psychologist in Calgary. After years of study, training, and personal growth, she was ready to establish herself as a trusted professional voice in her community.
Her vision wasn’t only about filling her calendar with clients. She wanted to create a long-term foundation for her business: a strong professional presence both online and in person, a space to share her yoga and meditation practices, and a brand that reflected her values of authenticity, growth, and connection.
Her website needed to hold all of that, a place that feels calm and welcoming, while also building credibility and visibility. A site that reflects her expertise and invites individuals, couples, and families to feel supported from the very first click.
Mapping Visitors & Goals
Once we had grounded her vision, the next step was getting clear on who her website needed to serve. Angelica’s work touches many lives, so we mapped out her top three visitor groups:
Individuals seeking therapy who may be visiting her website for the first time, often feeling uncertain or overwhelmed as they take this first step toward support.
Couples and families looking for guidance who want reassurance that they’ll be welcomed into a safe, compassionate space for their healing journey.
Visitors curious to learn more before reaching out, perhaps reading her blog, listening to her podcast, or joining her weekly yoga practice to better understand her approach and values.
By designing her site around these visitors, we created a foundation that felt clear and supportive. Every section, from the homepage to the resources, was crafted with intention: to welcome, to guide, and to reassure.
Angelica’s main goals for her new site were twofold: to attract new clients and to establish herself with a strong professional online presence. She needed her new website to do more than share information. She needed it to create trust and credibility while reflecting the calm, thoughtful experience she offers in her work as a psychologist.
Building the Foundation
Before we touched colours, layouts, or design details, we focused on creating a strong foundation. This is the step that often goes unseen but makes all the difference. It ensures a website isn’t just beautiful, but purposeful.
For Angelica, that meant gathering the elements that would communicate her voice and values clearly:
Photography that felt calm, warm, and professional, reflecting the safe atmosphere she creates in her sessions.
Written content, including her services, about + home pages, and blogs, all crafted to reassure potential clients and reflect her authentic, grounded approach.
SEO keywords to help people searching for therapy and support in Calgary find her online. That moment of discovery, when someone who’s been searching for support finally finds her, is the real impact of thoughtful strategy.
Her blog and resources structured so she could share reflections, education, and tools, building credibility and connection even before clients reach out.
This stage was about clarity and alignment. By laying this foundation, we created a roadmap that tied Angelica’s long-term goals to her immediate next steps, ensuring her website would grow with her career.
Designing for Longevity
The design stage is always my favourite. It’s where all the strategy and vision we’ve laid out finally come to life visually — the colours, the photography, the custom icons, the flow of each page. This is where I get to translate my client’s heart into something people can actually see and feel online.
For Angelica, it was especially fun because we kept the process collaborative and creative. We shared voice memos and ideas back and forth throughout the project, each exchange sparking new inspiration. That energy of co-creation is one of the things I love most about this work.
We also wanted her website to carry a memorable element that tied back to her roots and values. Together, we chose photography of Alberta’s mountains and lakes, grounding the site in a sense of place and creating a calm, expansive feeling. These images bring a sense of belonging and reflect Angelica’s connection to her community.
To carry that feeling throughout, I designed custom icons inspired by nature and wellness. These details add warmth and personality, transforming her site from a standard professional presence into an inviting space that reflects who she is as a person and a psychologist.
Longevity also means empowerment. To ensure Angelica feels confident updating her site, I created an individualized training video that shows her how to add blogs, update resources, and make changes with ease. She now has the freedom to grow her online presence without feeling dependent on a designer for every update.
Intentional Design Details
It’s the details that quietly reassure a visitor they are in the right place. For Angelica, every element was chosen with that in mind.
Her site is fully mobile optimized, ensuring that no matter how someone finds her, the experience is seamless, calm, and professional.
We added custom typography through code to give her words both personality and professionalism. I also integrated Mailchimp, so she can stay connected with her community and build credibility through consistent communication.
One of my favourite touches was embedding her yoga calendar directly on the site. This not only shows her as a psychologist, but also as a teacher and guide committed to whole-person wellness. It reflects her belief in healing through multiple pathways and her dedication to making her work accessible and supportive.
Together, these intentional choices created a website that feels both professional and personal — a space that builds credibility while welcoming people in.
Celebrating the Launch
Launching Angelica’s website has been such a joy. This project was never just about creating pages online. It was about designing a space that reflects her heart, her professionalism, and her vision for the future.
It takes so much courage to step into a new chapter as a psychologist, and Angelica did it with grace, authenticity, and vision. Watching her trust herself and bring this bigger dream to life was so inspiring.
Her new site is calm, clear, and intentional. It positions her as a trusted professional while also feeling warm and approachable. Most importantly, it gives her clients the reassurance that they belong, even before they book their first session.
I am so proud of what we’ve built together and so grateful for the fun, collaborative process we shared — from the voice memos to the design choices that made her vision real. Angelica’s dedication to growth and her commitment to creating a welcoming experience shines through every page.
