From Stay-at-Home Mom to Business Owner: Why Inspiration Matters

From stay-at-home mom to single mom to business owner, I’ve gone through so many transformations, or as I like to call them, “growth spurts.” Each stage stretched me in new ways, and one thing I’ve learned is the power of surrounding myself with inspirational women and their stories.

I used to always say I wasn’t a social media person. I saw Instagram as just another distraction, another thing I had to keep up with. But that changed when I realized I could use Instagram as a tool for connection and inspiration.

Now, instead of scrolling mindlessly or feeling drained, I’ve curated my feed with women who lift me up, challenge me to grow, and remind me what’s possible. It has become a space where I step into joy, creativity, and alignment every day. Instagram is now part of my inspiration toolkit, something I can turn to on the days I need a reminder of who I am and why I’m doing this, and for the days when I feel unstoppable and want to celebrate all the incredible women walking this journey too.

Why an Inspiration Toolkit Matters

Building a business can feel isolating, especially when you’re holding onto a vision no one else can see yet. That’s why having a daily inspiration toolkit makes such a difference. It’s not about comparison, it’s about surrounding yourself with women who show you what’s possible and remind you to keep going.

Your toolkit doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s simply a collection of voices, practices, and resources that help you realign with your vision. For me, that looks like following women on Instagram who remind me to choose joy, rest, and community over hustle. It looks like listening to podcasts that expand my thinking, reading books that make me dream bigger, and saving quotes I return to when self-doubt creeps in.

The key is to fill your toolkit intentionally. Don’t follow accounts that make you feel “less than.” Choose voices that genuinely inspire you and bring you back to your values.

Their posts celebrate moms while also encouraging us to keep going after the things that light us up. On the hard days, this account feels like a warm hug and a reminder that I’m not doing this alone.

Build Your Own Inspiration Toolkit

Your inspiration toolkit is something you can turn to on the days when things feel heavy, but also on the days when you feel unstoppable and want to celebrate the women walking alongside you.

To build your own toolkit, start small:

  • Follow a handful of accounts that truly inspire you and unfollow or mute anything that drains your energy.

  • Save posts that resonate into a private “inspiration” folder on Instagram.

  • Mix online inspiration with offline practices, like journaling, reading, or curating a playlist that shifts your energy.

Your toolkit is there to remind you that you’re not alone, your vision matters, and you can keep moving forward one step at a time.
